Hazeleyes, You are right on the bit of universal male'' problems. :) When my kids were small, I was always the one who found the babysitter, or made arrangements for the dog to be cared for if we were away, etc. So some of it here, is that he is expecting you to make any scheduling arrangements, b/c that is what guys do ...

Trish, this is;t about counseling, but about your surgery .... I am not sure what your plans are, but I would let your husband fend for himself a little more that usual. Make plans for the kids ... maybe staying w. friends, reschedule the nurse to come in at bedtime, or whatever point you figure he truly cannot be left alone any longer, and ...

Trish-411:
Do you think it is appropriate to ever involve your children in your SCI care? If so at what age and to what extent?Trish, I just saw this.My kids were older than yours when I got hurt. My daughters were 13 and 15, and my sons were 18 and 21. The boys were in college in Boston, where I was in the hospital. It ...

Trish-411:. In my dreams, I seem to know he is paralyzed although he is often not doing what I expect. He might walk for a bit, be lying in a bed using his arms, or sitting on a sofa. I am often perplexed as to how this is happening because I know that he should be paralyzed. Usually in my dreams I have this feeling of โhow

Dear ratherbflyin,Welcome to the community. What level is your injury? My youngest daughter graduates from high school this year, and I find personally, the combination of my injury 4 years ago, and the looming empty nest is giving me a whole ''what am I going to do with my life now'' feeling. So I can relate to what you are ...

If he can type, and use a computer, he should look into a career path that can be follwed that way. As far as him reaching out here. Give him the links, and then let it be. Who knows, some day he may decide to look.

I meant the smilies, lol. Guess they only date their own kind ..... Doesn;t look like anyone here is dating much tho'. I suspect my hubby would be a little annoyed if I started!

The progress you have made is fantastic! I am so glad to hear it. As far as the weather .... I hear you. It is below 0 here right now as well. I haven;t been anywhere in a few days, b/c it is just too cold to bother! I guess I can just say ..... keep working, so that when aspring does get here, you will be able to ...

I had a few sessions of pt, specifically for strengthening my shoulders, so that I am less likely to damage them (further, I suspect.) When I DO the exercises regularly, it really makes a difference. Considering I over 50, and have had shoulder issues in the past, I need to be doing everything I can.

You should bring it up! Think about what the worst thing that will happen. Probably, ''Can;t afford it, historic building, yadda yadda ......''. (Not, I am sure ''HA! That's right, we did it on purpose to keep YOU out! ) <<<<looking for a mean pirate smiley thereIf the portable ramp works, that would ...

Thanks FF, that will be helpful to read.

You will need to start to wear glow in the dark shirts. That, and bring a small ramp (wedge) to put under the chair, leveling out the ramp in the theater.

It does make you think that they aren;t very tuned into what you are saying. Not exactly a good characteristic for a psychologist.

I read book last year, and enjoyed it. But I am planning on passing on the movie as well. Or at least wait til it comes out on video. Megan saw it just before she left, and said it was very good, altho she HAD planned on leaving just before the end, she stuck it out. I think it is really interesting as to how many dogs

FuschiaFan:I went to see ''Marley & Me''. I am not much of a fan of Owen Wilson, but he was OK in the film, as was Jennifer Aniston. I heard there were 16 different dogs that played Marley. It was an entertaining film, but take a Kleenex for the end. I would recommend NOT taking young children to this film unless you have already had a ...

Thanks for the chart FF, I have been meaning to check my zone, so that I could order some plants. I usually depend on the fact that what I buy in a local nursery is ok. :)Right now I am trying to winter over a baby grand sequoia. My son brought a seedling back from a trip. Supposedly you can grow them in a container for a ...

We were actually the first group. There were some college interns involved, it may have been a project. I liked the fact that I could get online once I was able to get up. They were also piloting a way of using the internet via the tc's in the room. I found it clumsy, but if you were stuck specifically in bed, it would have ...

I like paint.net .It is a free program you can download, and is good for photo editing. (Only program I have found with a clone tool, other that Photoshop). It is based on the windows paint program, so is easy to use if you are used to paint. It has a Resize option, as well as a lot of features I use to clean up old ...

I think a lot of it is that there is SO much information here. (Not a bad thing!) The Paralysis Resource Center was the first online site I used in order to get info after I was hurt. We had a ''computer course'' in rehab. She handled any adaptations anyone needed, as well as using the internet and finding trustworthy ...
