• Re: Recent Movies You've Watched

The movie outing went well. I had tried in the past and the few times I did attempt going to a theatre, things ended in disaster for one reason or another. This time wasn't 100% without problems but we got through them and I actually did have a nice time. It was good to get out of the house. And the movie was a welcome distraction. I would like to

ifonlysandwhatifs:OK I'll start then geez. I went to dinner last night with a guy. He was freaking 6'4'' I thought my neck would snap off trying to look up at him when we were walking. I was only 5'2'' standing. No amusing stories though. What did ya have for dinner? (I wanted a reason to try out the pizza smiley)

Yeah I know Marley and Me is a comedy. I guess I am just not in the mood for a movie with a sad ending or a comedy involving unbearably cute dogs. I thought I would want to see it since I enjoyed the book so much. But after watching a few previews, I really have no interest in the movie anymore. Maybe I will change my mind by the time it comes

aw sjean that is so sweet that he called to check on Licorice Although I liked the book quite a bit when I read it a few years ago, given what I have heard about this movie I think I will pass on it. I am not really up to watching sad movies these days. Although I am thinking of trying to get out to see Benjamin Button sometime soon if I can.

  • Re: Recent Movies You've Watched

Although I typically skip action movies, I do have a thing for comic books so I finally got around to watching the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight. It wasn't quite what I expected, much darker and gloomier, even by Batman standards. Definately not a movie for kids. Heath Leger was perfectly creepy as The Joker. Maybe too creepy at times. Still

FuschiaFan:Finally, I went to ''Frost/Nixon''. Since I did not have a television at the time the original interviews were broadcast I did not see them, although I certainly read about them in the newspaper and have vivid memories of that time frame and the current events. It was well directed and well acted, and I would recommend it to anyone, ...

  • Re: Family Holiday Traditions

When we were young, a big tradition was to open one present on Christmas Eve. We still do that--somewhat. We usually all aren't together on Christmas Eve now that my siblings have their own families. But now it is more just the kids that do it. Another is a Christmas Eve dinner of Ukrainian food. Cabbage rolls, ...

Picassa is okay. I use it. Not great but it is functional. It is free so from that strandpoint, it is great lol. It will resize fairly easily. Another option are online sites that resize. Trish I have been wanting to reply to this for a few days but haven't been able to find the words. And unfortunately right now I am short on time so can only write briefly. • Finished My Course!

After a frustrating return to school that involved me withdrawing from a graduate program, wrangling help from a Dean to get admitted into a course at another school, serious lack of confidence issues, classmates who were openly contemptuous of my writing and opinions (I felt like I was back in junior high), a broken collar bone, surgery, 2 ...

  • Re: Books

I finally (finally) finished Ken Follett's World Without End. I really liked it, maybe even better than Pillars of the Earth. But I was a little disappointed that the second books was similar to the first. I would have liked to see him be a bit more creative. Oh well. Still excellent books and among the best I have read in years. I have now ...

  • Winter Is Here

We have had a pretty good fall here, having very warm, above average temperatures off and on until the end of November. But winter has now arrived with full force. On Friday we had a snow storm that dumped close to a foot of snow. But that was minor compared to the cold front that moved in later that night. Temperatures have now been hovering ...

  • Re: Overwhelming Grief

Sorry not to highjack your thread Bernadette but one thing that has come out of this for me is that it has made me more sensitive to the fact that I need to tell those in my life how much I love them and how important they are to me--I no longer just assume that they already know that. And while I don't want to say this is a ''positive'' thing ...

I need to start this post with the disclaimer that I am not actively suicidal so if anybody reads that into my post, please don't worry. Dan Gottlieb: Years later, I was bedridden with the decubitus for over a year. When I got back in my wheelchair, it represented freedom and I was thrilled to be back in the chair.
