    teaching independent living "Super Cyclist"

My name is Dave Carl. I was born with Spina bifida and use a wheelchair full time. I have a bachelors degree in social work and my primary focus is teaching people with and without disabilities of all ages independent living skills. I feel that independent living starts at a very young age when a child is learning very basic social and daily skills. Of course there is often a delay with learning these skills when a child has a disability. I recently wrote a children's book called "Super Cyclist". It is about a person who uses a wheelchair on a regular basis and becomes a superhero who uses a handcycle to protect people. I am using the book as a tool to work with children on self confidence with the idea that just because someone tells you that you can't do something doesn't mean it is true. I have a website for the book if anyone is interested in learning more about the book or my plans with it. The site is www.supercyclist.com
Please feel free to visit the site and comment. Thanks

    Hello Mr. Carl

I think your book sounds wonderful! Especially for my own daughter, she is at a stage now of having to realize that she is no longer a little girl and one day soon she will have to face the world and life one day on her own. So i'm definitely interested in your book to help her on her way to being independent and a strong young lady. Thank you for sharing your gift with others. God Bless you.

    Millie
