    Music

Some time ago I said I would start a thread about music. I have always felt music is so important in life. Hearing the right song at the right moment is one of those simple pleasures or even a heartbreak. I like how some people can put the words I am feeling right there on paper. I wish I had that talent. Books are good and my friends but with music you have the mood infused.  You can't really try to dance to a book.

Nothing uplifts me more than live music and I miss being able to go to concerts. They are just so expensive it is a very rare treat. Here they just cancelled a New years Eve concert due to lack of ticket sales due to the economy. I thought wouldn't it make more sense to charge less so people or families can go rather than just cancelling? I mean over 50 dollars a ticket? And that's the cheap seats at a cheap concert.

Ok I'm getting off on a ramble here. What I really wanted to say is what music do you like? I am from Tennessee I am forced to listen to country. It is all around me being so near to Nashville. The last concert I went to was Sugarland. My daughter and I like them and I actually saw them in Atlanta before they were famous. While we were there they were shooting a video. I am glad I splurged and went because she had the best time and will always remember that when she sees that video.

I just came back from yesterday.

Just call me stuck in the 70s and 80s. But I have lost that mullet at least! Been to a Britney, Monkees, Manilow, Amy Grant, Harry Chapin (best ever BTW), and Genesis concert.

    Re: Music

I'm stuck in the 70's and 80's too.  I can also do country.  Haven't been to that many concerts lately but have managed to see James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett, and of course me and my sisters went to see Manilow when we took a little trip to Vegas.  My son played in a jazz band last year so I got re-introduced to the Ides of March and Vehicle.  Remember that one?

You might have guess from my Avatar that I play the piano.  I took lessons for 12 years but lost alot when I didn't play for 20 years.  I play more now because I have a super cool baby grand as shown in my Avatar.

    Re: Music

    I remember, I admit it.

The kids here are trying to get my music up to date. They have shown me Cold Play, The Killers and Dave Matthews to name a few. So I'm just a tiny bit hipper now. I miss the original MTV where they just played videos all day and you could keep up. Too much trouble for me to You Tube all the new stuff.
