    Re: Recent Movies You've Watched

I had a "movie weekend" to make up for the films I missed with the holidays. I am a movie freak and rarely see less than 1-2 movies every weekend.

I went to see "Marley & Me". I am not much of a fan of Owen Wilson, but he was OK in the film, as was Jennifer Aniston. I heard there were 16 different dogs that played Marley. It was an entertaining film, but take a Kleenex for the end. I would recommend NOT taking young children to this film unless you have already had a discussion with them about death and pets and what it means to put an animal "to sleep". Based on the book, it was pretty true to the real story with some exceptions. If you love dogs, this is a good movie to see.

I went to "Doubt". Definitely a challenging film to watch, but with both Phillip Seymore Hoffman and Meryl Streep chewing the scenery it was a compelling film, although emotionally exhausting to watch.

Finally, I went to "Frost/Nixon". Since I did not have a television at the time the original interviews were broadcast I did not see them, although I certainly read about them in the newspaper and have vivid memories of that time frame and the current events. It was well directed and well acted, and I would recommend it to anyone, although if you don't remember the events (too young, for example) it would be good to take a bit of a refresher about the history first. Maybe check out "All the President's Men" with Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford and watch that first as well.
