    Cell Phones and SCI

Curious to know if anyone else in the community was injured because of cell phone use? My SCI was directly related to cell phone use by the guy who hit me. He was speeding and making multiple phone calls just before impact and claimed that he didn't see me, which was supported by the fact that he made no attempt to brake or slow down. I wonder how long it will be before data regarding cell phone use will be collected routinely as part of accident investigations?

That's an interesting question.  Our accident was 7 years ago and cell phones weren't as widely used then.  And for sure texting wasn't in the picture.  The state trooper that visited me in the hospital told me he believed that the teenage girl that hit us dozed off.  She had her cruise control on and never stepped on the break after she lost control.  I have never found out the true story.  Everything was settled through insurance companies and lawyers.  I guess in my mind I picture her dozing off, but who knows the truth.  I guess only she does, and I don't imagine she is ever going to tell it to me.
