    Re: Posting Pictures

First, I'll just come right out and say I am an idiot when it comes to manipulating photos.  I'll say it so somebody else doesn't feel the need.

OK, here is my problem.  We have zillions of digital photos but the files are huge.  I can up load them but they are enormous.  Even if I resize them and upload they still look bad.  I don't know if it is our camera, they way they are downloaded from our camera or what, but I know nobody wants to see a gigantic picture of my dog, my cat, or me so until I can figure it out or somebody can clue me in, I won't post any pcitures.  I messed around with it last night and nearly threw my computer through the wall.

Your camera is set to take large images. That's not a problem. You'll need some photo image program you can use to open the photo in and then re-save for web. Make the image size 200x200 pixels or about 2 or 3 inches square.

I've heard of this, it gets good reviews, but have not used it. It's free:

    Re: Posting Pictures

Picassa is okay. I use it. Not great but it is functional. It is free so from that strandpoint, it is great lol. It will resize fairly easily.

Another option are online sites that resize. Imageshak is one:

    http://imageshack.us/

you upload the picture to their site and indicate the size. The interface looks messy but it is actually very easy to use.

Another option is Care Cure has a very easy resize photo feature on its home page in the upper left hand corner under "site navigation." You upload your picture and it will give you the resized picture in a new window. You then just have to name it and save it to your hard drive.

If you need help with resizing, let me know.

This might seem kinda cute, a cat that likes to sleep in the shower chair.  I thought so too until he chewed up the arms of the chair.  Bad kitty.

I tried Picassa.  At least I got a small picutre in.  Thanks for the help.  Here is one of my dogs.

From 2004. In the picture is one of my old hiking partners, looking a little unsure of where he is going to put his foot next...

I didn't know cc had that. I am stupid about stuff like that also. I always just opened paint and clicked on stretch or skew and made it smaller.
I just came back from yesterday.

    Re: Posting Pictures

    I like paint.net  .

It is a free program you can download, and is good for photo editing.  (Only program I have found with a clone tool, other that Photoshop).  It is based on the windows paint program, so is easy to use if you are used to paint.  It has a Resize option, as well as a lot of features I use to clean up old photos.

There are a couple of other ways I can think of, CapnGimp has posted some on cc.

I am pretty sure photobucket can resize.  I use it, and Webshots a lot to share pictures online.  (I actually have a system, family stuff goes on webshots, pictures I am comfortable sharing on a wider basis (ie no one but me and mine in the shots) are on photobucket.  Tongue Tied [:S]
