You will need to start to wear glow in the dark shirts.  Stick out tongue [:P]

That, and bring a small ramp (wedge) to put under the chair, leveling out the ramp in the theater.

    Re: Recent Movies You've Watched

The movie outing went well. I had tried in the past and the few times I did attempt going to a theatre, things ended in disaster for one reason or another.

This time wasn't 100% without problems but we got through them and I actually did have a nice time. It was good to get out of the house. And the movie was a welcome distraction. I would like to get out to another movie soon. Unfortunately my favorite theatre, which shows a lot of foreign and independent movies is totally unaccessible. It is in a building that is considered a heritage site and so therefore is exempt from having to renovate for access. I can kind of understand that putting in an elevator for the screen on the second floor is not practical. But they also have a screen on the main floor--but you have to go down 4 steps upon entering the theatre to get to it. I could probably solve the problem with a portable ramp (something I just know thought of while writing this post), but it seems not very good customer service that they don't even have the bottom theatre ramped.

But I have to admit that all the years I went to movies there, I never gave the inaccessible nature of the theatre a second thought. I am trying to decide if I should bring it up with the theatre owner. It would be good if they would do something. But I am afraid I will get the door slammed in my face. Advocating is not really something I am very good at.

PS Very cool graphic sjean. I also like the glow in the dark tee shirt idea.

You should bring it up!  Think about what the worst thing that will happen.  Probably, "Can;t afford it, historic building, yadda yadda ......".    (Not, I am sure "HA! That's right, we did it on purpose to keep YOU out! Angry [:@]<<<<looking for a mean pirate smiley there

If the portable ramp works, that would be great.  Even if they just get one, and show their employees how to use it.

Most likely, they have never thought about it, because, non of their clientel is in wheelchairs. Confused [*-)] A catch 22 of course, because, duh,  if you are in a chair, you can;t enter the theater, but people don;t tend to think that through.Huh? [:^)]

And a 2nd good thing will come of this, since you coerced them into getting a ramp, you will feel obligated to go more often ..... and feel guilty about it if you don't.  So this will in turn get you out more often!  (Said one hermit to the other.   LOL  Embarrassed [:$])

Very cool graphics Sjean. It is much steeper than that though!! So we went to see the movie Bedtime Stories. I made the difficult transfer into the seat. My son wanted to sit in my chair so I would be in the middle. I'm not sure if I was flattered or annoyed they had to fight over who sat by me so I had to transfer. Anyway my rt brake hardly ever works bc it gets knocked around when I load my chair. He was fidgeting with the left brake and wouldn't you know in the middle of the movie he goes flying down the aisle. He freaked out and jumped out of it which tipped it forward. People were freaking out and he was soooo embarrassed. Thank goodness there was only about 10 people there since we went at an odd time. I thought it was kind of funny.

    Haiku

I am glad you had a decent experience. I was actually nervous for you. I would say something to the theater. Especially if you used to be a customer. They may have never thought about it.
