Before taking flight in a typical hot air balloon, the pilot usually climbs into the basket.

Among them was 37 year-old Brendon Cunnginham, a quadriplegic from Bristow, VA, who sustained a spinal cord injury four years ago.  

“This event was the highlight of my summer,” said Cunningham.  “I never thought I would enjoy surfing again, especially with my limited movement.
