Christopher Reeve as Superman endures, and it never seizes to surprise me. Just before the holidays we got a nice check from the fans of Clark and Lana -- Clana. And now this from Defying Mythos. Thank you! (Pictured is Allison Mack as Chloe and Tom Welling as Clark Kent.) Chloe Sullivan is an original character created by Al Gough and Miles Millar in 2001 for the television show Smallville. She is Clark Kent's best friend, his secret keeper, his constant, and his ally in the fight for truth and justice. She is a reporter, a hacker, an ally of the Justice League; Chloe Sullivan is a heroine whom is always finding a way to crusade for her ideals of truth and justice, and, although Miss Sullivan can't be found in any comic book, for fans of the series, her journey has become every bit as integral and inspiring as Clark Kent's.
Over the past nine years, Chloe has captured the hearts and imagination of viewers and the media alike. Her role in Clark’s journey by establishing herself as a loyal friend, a compassionate human being, a driven reporter, and a heroine in her own right has made her a cult icon. She transformed from a smart, snarky schoolgirl to a determined, passionate woman as viewers rooted for her to achieve her goals and dreams.
Chloe is just an ordinary human in a world of aliens, heroes, and villains which is what makes her extraordinary. She doesn’t need powers to be super. Serving as a voice of reason, a pillar of strength, a source of support, and using the power of her words as a journalist, Chloe helps to save the day because she is determined to fight for what she believes in and refuses backs down. Christopher Reeve achieved worldwide fame for portraying the most famous superhero of all time, but it was his own incredible courage, his strength of character, his hope, and his activism that made him a real hero.
This brings us to the amazing Allison Mack, the leading lady of the series and the actress whom has brought Chloe Sullivan to life. We chose to donate in her name, not only to express our appreciation for her time on Smallville, but because of the activism she has exemplified in her daily life. With her blog, she has brought attention to micro-financing, worked to try and establish grants for endowing the arts, and encouraged philanthropy. She strives to be an agent of change and stresses that her fans be the same. It is in that spirit of philanthropy and responsibility --- the spirit of Ms. Mack, Chloe Sullivan, and your foundation --- that we offer you this gift of $3,000.
Thank you all for the amazing humanitarian efforts and the work you do.
Sincerely,
Defying Mythos Operation Truth and Justice
