Tongue drive control system for SCI

Electrical engineer Maysam Ghovanloo and Xueliang Huo at Georgia Tech University, Atlanta, with some backing from the Reeve Foundation, are taking into trials a headset that makes it possible for a person to precisely control a wheelchair or computer using only their tongue. Trials have begun with spinal injury patients in the US.

Their secret is a magnate glued to the tongue. Read the story, watch a video demo.
