Hilary Lister aims to become the first disabled woman to sail solo
around Britain. She's controlling the boat with a "sip and puff" system. Lister was paralyzed at the age of 15, due to a progressive neurological disorder. Now 36, she is an accomplished sailor having " ... first came to prominence when, in 2005,
she became the first disabled sailor to cross the English Channel,
single-handed. In 2007 she became the first disabled woman to sail
around the Isle of Wight."
Her website is great. Her crew is Twittering, and there's a Google map tracking her progress.
Wow. So,
a wheelchair at the North Pole and sail boating solo from one, and it's still spring. What a summer this is going to be!
