Sure I've filled out my bracket, but not the one you are thinking of. I got a note last week from Stuart Klugler. He has written a book --
Wheelchair Basketball: One Rebound at a Time.
He writes: "My heroes are these men and women who have
not only benefited from wheelchair basketball, but have given
back to the game. The list of these athletes is too long to
name. However, for these seventeen men (featured in his book), their preparation,
performances, and reflection are strong examples of why
wheelchair basketball has been quite uplifting."
And he reminded me that the National Wheelchair Basketball Championships (NWBA) start Wednesday in Colorado. For the first time in its history, the NWBA (past
Quality of Life grantees) will host national championships for six different
divisions all at one location inside the Gold Crown Field House in
Colorado on March 18-22. More than 1,000 male and female athletes will be competing.
Over the course of the four days, teams in the six
divisions will combine to play more than 170 games.
Craig Hospital, one
of the leading rehabilitation centers in Colorado, will also host a
series of games.
Here's more on the NWBA including a TV interview.
