What are the favorite pastimes in your marriage?

We all have such varied and diverse interests and hobbies in life.  Often we develop mutual interests and pleasures in marriage.  What are some activities and interests you both enjoy sharing in your marriage? 8)

Well we used to go fishing a lot.We like to bowl..We like to go out to eat (especailly if we can find oysters! LOL)...Its not a hobby but we like to take the kids places together like day trips..take the dart train into the city and see the sights. When the weather is nice we like to sit on the patio with the chiminia and tiki-torches..If we can get to the beach we like to go crabbing..Now with the new grandbaby we are looking forward to babysitting together..We are both just so tickled when we are around that baby..Its like old times...He and I are totally in synch when around him.

    Love

We hike and snowshoe together. Although these days working on our property is what we do mostly. We have several crops that we grow commercially (small time farmers); I'm looking forward to the day when he can retire (about 10 years) and we can do it full time together.
"More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection..." (Phil 3:8,10)

We love to go to events together:  rock and mineral shows, gun shows, cultural festivals, local BBQ cook-offs and fairs.  We love to go to zoos, museums, aquariums, and art studios.  We love trying new ethnic food restaurants and dishes.  We love to go on trips and go camping.  Our favorite pastime is spending time laughing and talking together and enjoying new experiences together.

I'm glad he is so spontaneous and adventurous, it keeps the thrill of experiencing life alive.  :)

Re: What are the favorite pastimes in your marriage?

Although my husband's new career has interferred with our recreation over the past few years, we always enjoy fishing, camping, and boating.  We used to ski until hubby injured himself.  Skiing was a blast for us.  I never had more fun in my life than we I used to ski with hubby.  We always enjoy festivals and events too.

We also like to take walks and ride bikes.  Our favorite thing to do is bike into downtown on an early Saturday or Sunday morning when everyone else is asleep.  Downtown is about 10 miles away.  It's so refeshing to ride along the river into town.  And it's super cool to ride bikes among the skyscrapers when town is empty.  It's like a movie scene where we're the last people on earth.

This summer, I'm taking golf lessons because hubby wants to start golfing with me.  It was alway a hobby he did on his own, and I respected that.  But I was very flattered when he shared that he was hoping I'd take some golf lessons so we could start golfing together this year.  I can't say that I'm all hot and excited about the prospect of golfing, but I do know that I enjoy my husband's company and anything I do with him is fun.

On a daily basis, we just enjoy grabbing whatever moments we can sitting outside together and just talking and laughing.  Since we only get to see each other for an hour each day, we have a rule that we won't discuss anything negative.  This has turned out to be a great thing too!  Because problems are posponed to be discussed at a specified time (usually a weekend morning), we are very matter-of-fact in our discussions about problems.  We both think that it's more important to focus on positive things since our time together is limited.

When we lived in the Midwest, it was sledding and skiing, now, in the South, it is picnics, fairs, festivals, etc. With the kids getting older, and my wife getting even prettier, I look forward to every time we can share together.

We have movie nights sometimes....we put blankets and pillows on the family room floor, make some popcorn and pop in a movie! It's very relaxing, especially on the weekends after a long , hard week at work!

Taking walks, going to baseball games, watching game shows, and reading.  We like to read different books and share passages out of the books with each other.

Re: What are the favorite pastimes in your marriage?

Well, the ones we have developed together are probably both of our favorite past-times now.

We love to just drive around and follow for sale signs and look at properties for fun.  We also love to go treasure hunting at antique stores and thrift stores.  But mostly, we love to go to the nursery and look at plants and flowers.  Neither of us had ever done that once before we were married.  It's always fun!

Does going to the Burger King play place with our kids count?  It's like we are taking them to Disneyland because they get so excited that we suddenly become mom and dad of the year for letting them run around and get a Happy Meal!

Re: What are the favorite pastimes in your marriage?

In our marriage and family, we love going cycling, love going to movies, (if there are any good ones), love going on vacation, even if it's to visit family a couple hours away, and love to play cards.  We also take advantage of the free days and nights at our local museums and art galleries--especially me.....LOL

We enjoy watching movies together, making things out of polymer clay, going Geocaching (we use million dollar government satellites to find Tupperware in the desert), talking about whatever crosses our minds, cake decorating (hey, if it's manly enough for Duff Goldman, it's manly enough for any guy), playing with and/or showing the dogs, bike riding, and just about anything that means spending time together.
