    Workaholism?

I wasn't quite sure of how to word this, so if it sounds weird, I apologize.

I have a sister that pretty much eats, sleeps, and drinks work. I mean, it's like she's obsessed with it. To be honest, I do wonder about the affect it's having on my niece. I mean, sure one should work hard at their job, but to the point where work becomes one's obsession/idol? I don't know.

How do you avoid falling into the workaholism trap? How do you think having a parent that is a workaholic affects a child? (Just some thoughts I had.)

It could be that she is getting a lot of praise at work.  "Good job" "Here is a raise"  "We need you"  Well, her daughter needs her too.  Is she old enough to say this?  You sister needs to get off work at a certain time each day or some other way of making sure she spends one on one time with her child.  I work part-time and in order to do that I don't sacrifice the time with my kids.  It is no almost all ladies outings.

This is such a difficult thing. I think that it is something that you are always having to keep in check. It may be that she is more comfortable at work and knows she is doing everything right.

Personally it is something that you just have to work on everyday. Thankfully, I have a job where I make my own hours and my husband works from home. I go in early while my son is sleeping and try to do as much work as possible from home. It is so important to leave work at work when you are home.

I think kids need to know that no matter what mom and/or dad will be there whether it interferes with work or not.
