Buying a Dress --- Revisited (pictures pasted into the post) -- Please give opinion

I emailed the facility where the wedding and reception are to be held, and I asked what type of dress would be appropriate.  The response I received was "the **** wedding reception will be a sit down dinner.  Dress will be formal."  Okay.  Since it's a 3pm wedding, that means it's "daytime" formal.

    That definitely means:

    • no long dresses
    • no dresses showing too much skin
    • no sequence, rhinestone, or beaded dresses
    • no solid black dresses (too formal even for a short dress)
    • no print fabric dresses (too casual)

Research gives to different opinions on what is included in "daytime" formal.

    One school of thought:

    • Stylish suits in bright or pastel colors to distinguish them from business attire (these don't exist in the stores anymore because women's suit companies have gone out of business)
    • Short dresses, in a solid color (not solid black and not solid white) in a bright or pastel color to distinguish it from evening wear.  The fabric should be a dressy fabric but a lighter weight fabric to distinguish it from evening wear.  (In other words, chiffon instead of taffata, etc.)

    The other school of thought:

    • Cocktail dresses in solid colors showing less skin than an evening cocktail dress.

The following dresses meet the criteria of the second school of thought.  I've tried them on and both are very flatting to my shape.  Here are the finalist so far:

    Both come from Cache.

    Here's Cache's entire dress collection:

    http://www.cache.com/cache/control/category/~category_id=0100/~VIEW_SIZE=142/~VIEW_INDEX=1/~priceRange=

I wish I could find something more colorful, but it seems that one doesn't exist without bare shoulders.

Which of the two above do you like best?

    Or should I keep looking?

I found another option, a blue two piece skirt/shirt set.  Here are the new options.

High-sheen ruched skirt. haven't tried on, but love that it's colorful

Thanks, ksmom.  I love the blue too.  I'm just not sure how it would look on my body.  I should just dare to get it and see.

    Here's another option----a skirt:

the skirt is on sale for only $15.

I just love that I can copy all of my ideas into one place here.  I only have to show hubby this thread instead of going to different sites.

    I found some colores suites:

    Ribbed Sweater Knit Skirt

    Cotton Fitted Jacket

    High-sheen ruched skirt.

    Brocade jacquard pencil skirt

I really like the beige v-neck dress, and the black and white one the best. They are very flattering. Have you decided which one you are going to go with yet?

You might look nice in the black and white dress since you have blonde hair and fair skin. (your words)  I hope you find the dress that you enjoy.. :)

Out of the two in your initial post, they are both lovely.  I'd say if you are a brunette, the second gold one, if you are a blonde, the black and white one.

    What fun!
