    Our "Weekend To Remember"....Certainly Was!!!

My husband and I participated in the Weekend to Remember in Birmingham, AL the weekend of May 16, 2008.  It was an amazing weekend.

Two years ago, an emotional affair cause quite a bit of heartache in our marriage.  We were finally at a better place in our marriage, but this weekend brought us where we needed to be and showed us a way to make it stronger.

The speakers were entertaining, enlightening, they put things in perspective and in references that, more than likely, you've experienced yourself.   No one was ever singled out.  We were never made to feel uncomfortable at any time.  The individual projects we did together really helped us communicate more and we were more willing to see the other as an intigral part of the marriage and NOT the enemy.

I noticed there were questions about the  new format.  Im not sure what the old format was, but here's what we covered for our 2.5 days.

       DAY ONE:

    • Why Marriages Fail
    • Can We Talk?

    DAY TWO

    • Unlocking the Mystery of Marriage
    • From How to Wow
    • What Every Marriage Needs
    • Rules of Engagement
    • Marriage After Dark
    • DATE NIGHT!!!!

    DAY THREE

    • Woman to Woman (just the women meet)
    • Man to Man (just the men meet)
    • How Marriages Thrive
    • Putting a Stake In The Ground

And yes, we were able to renew our vows.......I boo-hooed the whole time.  We didn't start off with a big beautful wedding, we hadn't had God or church in our marriage until just a few months ago, the emotional affair......so to be able to look at each other and know we were doing this with a more sturdy foundation and more love between us than ever before meant so much.

Now several weeks later, the things we learned are still put to use and we are amazingly happy.  We realize it's ok to have conflict, its good to have conflict and we have learned how to deal with it.  The TWELVE books we bought (*lol*) are being read and shared with our friends and loved ones to help their marriages as well.

We will DEFINITELY be going back in a year or so, there's no doubt.  I highly suggest this weekend as an investment in any marriage, no matter what the stability of it is.

Best of luck to you all!

What a great report. It's so refreshing to hear how God is working in others lives.  Glad it went so well for both of you. God bless!
Be the kind of woman that when you get up in the morning Satan says, "Oh crap! She's up!!"

If you need help, ask God; if you don't, thank God.

Good report and glad you both got alot out of going to WTR!

My hubby and I are getting ready to attend one too.  We went to WTR last March and decided to go again this year. We have attended 4 of them already over the years.  I understand the format is a little different this year too.  There are two areas that I hope we will pick up some helpful ideas from the conference this year.

    GO GATORS!!!!
    GATORS 56 / Hawaii 10
    GATORS 26 / Miami 3
    GATORS 30 / Tennessee 6
    GATORS 38 / Arkansas 7
    GATORS 51 / LSU 21

My wife and i attend one.   i want to (need to) attend again.  it has been a year and half and one is comming up in November. worth it! worth it.

for those who has not attended one befor  the only suggestion that i would give and it is more of a validation because it is suggested by Family Life is to stay at the Hotel where the confrence is being held. We lived 10 minuts away and debated to spend the money.  my wife being smart enough for both of us suggested that we follow the program as described.   kids went to grandma's and we stayed. i am so glad we did, others did not.  you have free time throughout the confrence for assignments,  people were in hallways-not fun!  we had a room, a pvt. place to do the assignments. and when you are feeling really connected, hum you have privateplace.   catch my drift.
