By living a life that was pleasing to God even when just about everyone around him was not.
He warned the people of God's anger in their evil ways. He let them know that they needed to turn away from their evil ways & live lives that were pleasing to God or face God's wrath.
Not only did he preach obedience (righteousness) to God

JaneFW:Not ALL men are tempted by porn, or give in to that temptation. Some men abuse alcohol, some men are addicted to drugs, some men are violent, some men steal .. (and some women do those things too.) I just don't see that it is God's ''fault'' that men use porn. God didn't invent porn, men did (and women). ...

Thx for the ideas! :) (You crack me up Jane!)
I shared the ideas w/her. They met yesterday & right now it's between a Pirates of the Carribean theme or something about a dream. Some of the boys want a John Deere Green theme...ha! My husband said he votes for that one...the senior boys were all for it...the senior girls ...

My daughter is part of the prom committee at school.
I suggested The Garden of Eden, but she said no one would vote yes for it.
Any ideas?

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I'm fairly new to this board, and have grown to love it. This is a wonderful place for fellow believers to come and receive great advice and encouragement during times of sadness and heartache. I would like to ask those of you who have recently experienced the goodness and blessings of God to share with us

Are You Becoming Like Noah?
Fresh Manna 2009ยฉ by Pastor Tim Burt Our daughter and son-in-law, who are now Pastors of their own church, took off to a conference this week. So, Renee and I have our two granddaughters Madeline and Macy. With them spending the week with us, itโs amazing how quickly I feel like a dad again. I loved being a dad โ and ...

Only Appropriate Anger is Appropriate!
Fresh Manna 2009ยฉ by Pastor Tim Burt There was a time in my life many years ago, that I would occasionally erupt like a volcanic eruption. I am ashamed of those days. I do not and have not let that happen in my life in a great many years. Anger is a valid emotion but one that has a boundary and whose line can

Uproot the Fears in Your Life
Fresh Manna 2009ยฉ by Pastor Tim Burt Youโll find that in every garden, weeds that you never planted spring from the ground. Your heart and your garden are the same. Weeds โ fears, worries, and evil imaginations invade your heart and mind that seem to come from nowhere. Jesus in trying to teach His disciples about ...

chaz345:I don't need to have read romance novels to know that women often marry the man they think they can turn their fiancee into. And it was someone else who said that element is present in romance. As for the expectations, I think you maybe picked a bad example since sex between husband and wife is Biblically commanded. It's an objective thing ...

chaz345: mzjh20:These guys (or gals) are usually troubled or angry but because of the love of this woman (or man), they suddenly change. Yes, it's cheesy and fake and no one believes it's real.Really? Actually I think it's quite common that a woman marries a man expecting to be able to change significant aspects about who he is.
How many romance

No it's not the same in terms of impact on the world. But it can be harmful, I think that's the distinction Chaz is making...and Alpha.
Women & men are different. Women are touched more so by the emotional, men the visual. As a rule of thumb. So when a women is reading romance novels that portray these ''perfect'' men ...

JaneFW:On another note, I'm back again to wondering about these ''churches across the country'' where apparently the weekly sermon is about nothing more than bashing men for using porn. Again .. I have never, ever (in over 3 years) attended a sermon by my pastor where he has ''bashed'' either gender, whether specifically men or women, for ...

formerlyalpha:Barb Larrimore, who with her husband co-authored ''His Brain, Her Brain'', said, '' I realised that my need for conversation is as intense as his need for sexual intimacy.'' That's a pointer to the different pathway a woman takes in her quest for pleasure.

I guess my point was that God will deal w/whatever sin that has a hold on us. The ''church'' is God's people. Do we trust that God direct His people? That He moves them to help one another, etc?
I choose (and this is something I do actively...daily, sometimes minute by minute) to have faith. That God is going to deal ...

I agree that some romance novels can be as destructive to a marriage as porn.
I don't agree, however, that there is a hypocrisy in this area. I do believe it is addressed by our Father who disciplines His children.
I believe the HS convicts His daughters every bit as much as He does His sons. He does this through women's

Have you heard about the world coming to an end in 2012? Apparently it's something to do with the Maya calendar (I did a quick search online the other day...didn't have much time). Although my 11 y/o said some guy who predicted 9/11 is predicting the end of the world in 2012.
I explained to her that when I was a kid there were ...

So funny this came up. I was just talking to my DH last night about his thoughts. I asked him what he was thinking...he said he was thinking about what he was doing. I asked if he ever thinks of many things at once & he said no. He said for example when he is changing the oil he's thinking about that...not about the ...

Hi Amymina - welcome to the forums. :)
I can see why you feel the way you do hearing his voice on the machine. What he did to you is deplorable.
I'm not sure I understand the last part of your post. Your husband is taking the position that he himself will reach out to his Dad but he will continue the boundary of keeping ...

In putting myself in your shoes I would let him know that you will be calling his wife to talk to her about this on a certain date & time...he has until then for her to find out from him...which is the right thing for him to do.
He's still seeing this woman? Does he plan on breaking up the marriage?
When is your friend ...

Hi finishwell - welcome to the forums!
I can completely relate to what you are saying. I have struggled with how to balance things for the last 9 almost 10 years!
Our pastor has been touching on this the last few sermons. The most important thing is that we are prioritizing our lives. Christ comes first, our spouses 2nd ...

First, I'm so sorry for your terrible loss.
My Dad died 27 years ago yesterday. To this day I still have vivid dreams of him. Often times he's alive but I can't find him. Sometimes I find him before I wake up, most of the time I don't. They're tough dreams to have.
Occasionally God blesses me with a wonderful dream ...

So I'm feeling better each day. I still have slight vertigo & light headedness so w/that comes the nausuea but I'm getting better that way.
But my moods are still pretty wacked. Last night & this morning I was so irritable which I absolutely hate. I've noticed shortly after taking the Prozac in the morning my mood ...

Dallas, you are awesome! Thank you!

So if I eat this stuff over time I'll stop craving sugar? That would be awesome. My inlaws are notorious for sending ...

Oh my, I can so relate Jane. Even now we have to hold those two back from seeing one another so much. Renae610:As for depression, BecauseHeLives, even though the cause of symptoms can be traced to a trauma, your body has still been affected. Pt Three: Your DestinyโYour Reward!
Fresh Manna 2009ยฉ by Pastor Tim Burt I was terrorized! I was nine years old, standing outside the principalโs office and waiting to be called in to be disciplined. This was a debate in our home over the weekend. :)

It sounds like you all are establishing boundaries quite nicely. It's sort of like exploring new territory don't you think?
