how do you honor the unhonorable?

my father left me when I was 2 -- before that he would be very abusive and intimidating.
How can I possibly write loving tributes to a monster?  And no, there wasn't anything positive about him.  Not one.

So sorry this happened to you.  You must have a great memory to remember things that happend at age 2!  Honor your father in the sense that you are not taking vengence against him.  If you see him treat him respectfully.  He will know that he does not deserve to be treated nicely, let him know it is because of Jesus. Forgive him & do him no harm.  I do not think that means you have to associate with him.  Acts 5:29 reads we ought to obey God rather than man.  Honoring someone does not mean doing everything they say.  Pray for him to know Jesus.  If you want to write him, pray for a few days asking God if he wants you to do this.  Writing might bring him back into your life, are you ready for that?

Psalm 27:10-"When my father & my mother forsake me then the Lord will take me up" & Isaiah 49:15-"They may all forget, yet will I not forget thee".  These are favorite verses to me.  I pray that God will bring healing to you.
