    A Week in the Life

    Hey Guys!

It's been a few weeks since I've been around so I've lost track with some of you and what's going on with your lives. So I thought why not try starting a thread where we can post little updates on our lives.

I saw Chaz is back! That's really cool. Wish I had DIC's email addy, I'm taking a small group of ladies down to southern WV to take some winter clothing. I might actually get close enough to him to stop and visit a spell.

I think I've gone a little overboard this fall in gathering black walnuts. I cut strips of window screen, rolled them into tubes about 6 in diameter and 3 foot long. Filled them with nuts and have them hanging in the basement. My wife is the best! What other wife would let you hang 20 of these "nutsacks" in her basement? :)

I am having a real struggle with our vehicles. Bout the time I get one fixed, 2 more break. And I'm really concerned that one of the mechanic guys isn't being quite as honest as you'd like. Fortunately God has blessed us with a variety of vehicles so no one has been stranded.

My 18 yo son has understandably gotten impatient waiting for an opening with YWAM in Australia. He's looking into going to Thailand by himself to work at the orphanages. Seems a lil dangerous, but he's soooo frustrated here he is starting to make some bad decisions because of his boredom.

So what's going on with you?

Re: A Week in the Life

    Hi there,

Pretty much same old same old for me. Relatively boring job that's way too far from home and then much child wrangling.

Black Walnuts, bleh, don't like nuts. How many trees do you have though? That wood is worth a LOT becuase it is so prized by woodworkers. I've heard of people planting a grove of those trees as their retirement fund.

PM me your e-mail and I'll get it to DiC, I'm in contact with him on a couple of other forums.

On the missions thing for your kid, Thiland is generally a lot safer than we have the perception of, even in the extreme north near Burma, or Myanmar or whatever it's called this week.  Our church has sent a missions team over there for the last two years and they've had no problems at all. Of course they are working with an established orphanage that's run by our denomination(Foursquare)  so all of the cultural considerations are well covered.  I wouldn't suggest that he go alone but maybe look into contacting Foursquare International (Foursquare missions arm) and see if they would use someone. They have a large presence in Thailand.

PM sent Chaz I'll say something to my son about Foursquare. We're getting most of the nuts off 4 trees. We have 10 total. The wood is quite pricey. We sold several a few years back and I was just amazed at what the guy offered us for them. Actually we still have a few stacks of 'tops' laying around waiting for the wood stove.
