    The Final Countdown!

Well, tomorrow is the day!  My baby will be starting her first day of Kindergarten...and that will mean all my chicks will have flown the coop for the year. :( Time is truly flying by!

Her teacher is *wonderful* and I am very excited for her!

My oldest DD got the teacher we requested as well, and her best friend is in her class for the 5th year in a row...would have been 6, but we home-schooled for 2nd grade. She is just jazzed as all get out.  Her 11th bday is the 20th too, so that may have something to do with her excitement. Ü

DS#2 got his favorite teacher as his home-room period, he was stoked!  Hasn't found many friends with the same schedule, but he is ok with it...this teacher must be really fun!  I know they rib each other about baseball teams/players and etc, which is right up my son's ally. He is looking forward to a fun year!

DS#1 Got Spanish 2 out of the way in summer school to make room in his schedule for Graphic Arts.  He is really looking forward to that.  Has a tough but good schedule in the middle of his day and then will T.A. for his dad the last period...which is a *huge* help.  I will be teaching until 3:00 and he can pick up the little one from K and bring her to the high school for a quick rest, snack and visit with Daddy before he gets DD#2 and brings them to me at my school. Ü

Anyone else?  Is it the final countdown to school for you as well, or have your kids already started?

    Re: The Final Countdown!

Our kids actually started last Thursday (13th)...early this year.  At first I wasn't ready as the summer really was busy and went fast - but then the day before the sibling fighting started so I was like "yep...time to go back!"

Oldest DD is a Junior - taking honors classes and college prep...lots of homework already.  Today she and 2 other friends started a weekly Bible Study before school - hopefully more will join in, but I'm very proud of her for initiating it.

Middle DD is 8th grade - trying out for volleyball - didn't make the team last year and so far has made it thru 2 cuts this year - final cut is next week.  Pray for her - it'll be good for her self esteem to be a part of this team.

Youngest DS is in 4th grade - isn't as excited or "in to" school as his sisters but goes without argument and does homework without "much" argument :-).

My 2 part-time jobs start next week (well, one does - I'm also a Preschool teacher and that doesn't start until after Labor Day).

    Guess the summer is over...

sounds like a great year looms for your fam!  Keep us posted on how your dd's try outs end up.  Volleyball is SOOO fun!  I hope she makes the team. Ü

HEY!  A fellow preschool teacher!  Cool!  My teaching year doesn't start until the 14th of September and I am so glad to have these few weeks to get everyone good and settled into our schedule before we add my stuff to the crazy mix of morning chaos.  Oy vey!

Please be praying that I get two more kids for my afternoon class.  My morning classes are both full. Ü

Gosh, college is expensive isn't it?  *I* thought it sounded expensive anyway! Ü Seems just ridiculous how much they can charge for books and things...it is the reason I am back to work.  Saving up, don'cha know...even for J.C.!

My ds #2 is in the eigth grade this year too.  Big men on campus.  Next year they will go back to being pipsqueaks at the high school, so they better strut it up while they can! LOL.

    Re: The Final Countdown!

Today was the first day of school for my oldest 3.

DD#1 is going into her senior year & is really excited.  It seems like just yesterday I was a senior in HS...blah!  Time goes by so fast!!  She is going to be taking one college course & will be a TA this year as well...not sure for which class though!

She's not doing any fall sports, but is involved in theatre arts so has play practice just about every evening after school.

DD#2 is going into her junior year, she's excited too.  She is very close to the seniors as well as the juniors so is looking forward to a really fun year w/everyone.  She is trying out for the same college course as our oldest DD & will also be a TA this year.  She is in theatre arts as well & is also in volleyball.

DD#3 is a freshman!  Again time is just going by way too fast.  She's debating whether to stay in choir or not...guess it's only half a credit & since she's not a fan of singing she's considering a different elective w/more credits.  She's also in volleyball.

DD#4 is going into 5th grade.  She has a very hard time in school.  I just know that this year is going to be a great year for her.  She just needs that extra help that the school can't afford to give her so blessedly I'll be home full time after October 30th to help her.  I'm going to invest in homeschooling reading curriculum to help her get caught up better than she is.  Reading is her biggest challenge, but it's affected her confidence & caused her to struggle in other areas as well.  She & I are very excited to face the challenges this year. :)  Which is great...I'm so happy to see her excited about school again!

DD#5 will be starting pre-school on the 10th.  This will be her second year of pre-school...she is 4.  She's really excited because she gets to ride the school bus in the mornings to school.

    The summer did go fast!

Praying for your pre-school afternoon class to fill up P&G.

Yikes...this is the part I'm a bit nervous about next year!

BHL, it sounds like your girls face a great year in your neck of the woods!

Keep prayin' about my afternoon class!  I added one last night, but one shifted down to the morning class, so Sigh.  Oh well, God has it all worked out and knows the just right size the class needs to be! Ü

    Re: The Final Countdown!

I missed this thread so coming to it three weeks into the new school year!

How is it working out for you at school P&G?

Our eldest is now a senior and only on half days, and seems to be really loving his last year.  He's going to junior college locally next year, get his associates under his belt, and then head to UTSA and get the rest of his degree - at least that's the plan and I am hoping and praying he follows through.

The middle boy started his final year of middle school, 8th grade, and both he and the youngest are still in Christian school, so 8th grade is small at their school, and he knew which home room teacher he would be getting - because there's only 1, lol.  He is looking forward to getting out of school uniform and into ps high school next year.  I hope it's not too much of a shock for him.  He is getting into running, which is awesome, and his coach is working him hard.  He has the kind of build and speed for running/sport, so my h and I are going to support him all the way if he wants to attend runs and take part in races.  He has chosen to bowl in the league this year.

The youngest started 4th grade and he got a male teacher for the first time!!  Yay him.  He was so excited.  :)  Unfortunately he missed 4 days of school with flu and strep, but he made the work back up.  Why that didn't happen just 2 weeks sooner during summer I don't know, lol.  This school is quite tough.  In his first few weeks, ds has had to learn the American's Creed and already knows it word perfect.  He has a tremendous memory!

I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.

I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

    Gotta love this school!!

My h is also back at school!  He has a full load again, including accounting, which he hates, lol.

I'm just at work .. as usual ..
