    So this SUCKS

Lisa had a j p drain in her after her surgery and everything was going well until tonight. About 4 this evening she accidentally pulled the drain out. Naturally I panicked and called her Dr. In San Diego and got his chief resident who assured me that this was not an emergency situation, just to watch her and make sure no fever started or no new pain occurred, that her body should reabsorb the 55 - 60 ml her drain was putting out. Well, gues what, new pain shooting up to a ten on the pain scale so off to the local emergency room we went. They have taken X-rays and blood tests which we are waiting on as well as a response from Dr. Lowy. They have managed to get her pain down to about a five, so she managed to doze off. Anyone ever notice that crap like this never happens when the people you need are available. Always seems to happen like now, midnight on a Saturday night. Now it's just wait and see what they come up with. Really sucks when your Dr is 500 miles away. So many issues and drama to deal with, but we'll get through it. Stay strong Mike

Mike and Lisa-so sorry this happened-snd it does seem to happen that way-at least they got her pain moderated a bit. Hope the doctor gets back to you ASAP, and that she responds to whatever tx they recomend. From all you've talked about her, she's a real trooper and fighter so hang on and know that we are all sending prayers and loving thoughts for support for you both. Rose

Hopefully by the time you get this the dr will have gotten back to you. So much for emergency on call services. There used to be a time when YOUR dr would call no matter where or when he was. Sending hugs to you both. No one should have to go through that much pain.

Oh Mike, so sorry to hear this. And after everything was going so well. Don't know why these random acts of crap happen. If anyone can get through this it's the 2 of you. I'm pulling for you.

    Re: So this SUCKS

Well, glad that's over. Lisa got out of the hospital yesterday(Wed) after they put a new drain in and run some more tests. She had some kind of infection going on and sent her home with Antibiotics for four weeks, along with the new drain. This drain is draining a different abscess i think, they discharge seems to be pus and infection as opposed to mostly bile, and she is feeling a lot better. Follow up in San Diego in two weeks, and I think that if she's up to it we are going to take a week to relax and do some vacation things down that way. Thanks for all of the support, I am getting to the point where I need all the positive reinforcement I can get, and will pass it on for anyone else who needs it. Stay strong Mike
