I come in and lurk quite often ... used to be active when caretaker for my LOVE, Marty!
It's a dreadful crime that folks of any age have to suffer from meso, and I think doubly so with you young folks, still with young children to raise and want to see them grow up! Keep fighting and stay strong.... this board will be a lifeline for you!
Anyhow, none of you have written abt, but just to let U know you've done GOOD by not writing abt your exposure to asbestos .... don't write anything abt it on this or any site, bcz attys for the defendant companies (those who knowingly used asbestos and being a cancer-causing agent). Anyhow, there are law firms who support the meso foundation, and if you've not contacted an atty, do so... again, post nothing abt your exposure on this or any site, for any info could be misconstrued and used against any legal case...
Love and hugs to you newbies and all the others too!

Thank you! Even though I have had this diagnosis for almost 3 months now, I still don't really know what to do with it. I am doing my best to live my life to the fullest and loving my son like there is no tomorrow - all the while praying for lots of tomorrows.
I do have a lawyer. I have chosen not focus on that at all. I'm letting him do his job and available when he needs me, but I am focusing on fighting this cancer. I finally have what I hope will be my last "consultation" before my chemo starts tomorrow, with my local doctor. I hope to be starting my chemo in the next couple of weeks.
I am very thankful for this site and those who understand what I am going through.

Hi Caroline .... and this info is also for any other newbies.
If your lawyer happens to be one that advertises on TV ... be aware that the 'asbestos lawsuits' is a REAL INDUSTRY in itself. There are some firms who prob just do class action suits. Then, there are other firms who are top notch in the meso caused by asbestos and really are the ones to deal with. If you have already signed with a lawyer and looking into it further, realize you could do better with another .... you can drop the present firm and go with another.
After researching meso on the internet bcz I did not want to accept the fact that there was no cure for meso for my husband, I filled out info which was related to an atty site.... looking for medical input, not a lawyer.... they sent me paperwork and phoned me... told them we not at all interested in lawsuit, just medical direction and not to call me back.... in searching internet more, found a gal in Calif whose husband died of meso, did white pages, found her phone # and had the NERVE to call her.... So glad I did... Janet Simpkins spoke w/me abt an hour, before hanging up, gave me the info abt this meso foundation, a meso letter type caretaker's site, and also wanted to email me her atty's info... Told her we not at all interested in atty and also we wd not even know where to begin to think where Marty's asbestos exposure had begun.... She said she would send me the atty's ph # just in case we changed our minds, cuz the treatment for meso could entail a GREAT EXPENSE ..... JANET WAS SUCH A GODSEND..... Anyhow, eventually we did sign up with the same atty she and her husband Ron had used. We were grateful for her direction.
Caroline, may the Lord bless and keep you close to him and give you strength and comfort as you go thru the treatments of chemo.
If ever you want to look back at what smbo (somebody) had written in the past, I believe that what you do is click on the 'name' (like mine is lomarty) and it brings up something like 'other posts by lomarty' and you can do a search.... JUST A WARNING, at one point there were over 10,000 posts, and I had written over 1,000 of them..... so, like I wrote in first of this subject, I used to be VERY ACTIVE on this post.
Caroline, do have something to LOOK FORWARD to in order to get you through the difficult days of chemo.... Plan fun things with you son.
I used to think of like putting a carrot out in front of a rabbit, or like think they used a stuffed rabbit on greyhound dog tracks to give the dogs something to keep running after.... The next fun goal after getting thru a chemo...
Sweetie, I will pray you have lots of tomorrows, weeks, months and YEARS with your family.....
PS: I went into the discussion to ck to see how you look up old posts.... Even in this box, for instance, click on my name at upper left of this post, and a diff screen pops up, with info regarding Marty and me beneath it, and to the right is a selection of things you can do... either send a private msg (I NEVER go look at that area !!! AND another thing, then think last on the list is to look at previous posts! Anyhow, that's the method to use for ANBO's previous posts....
Love and hugs... Lois

I think it is very sad that we are unable to discuss this part of the meso. experience. That people can't ask questions or get advice about the legal end of this.
Shame on those who troll this site, people here are hurting in one way or another and need support. Just so they can save their companies a few bucks?
If they don't want to pay, then they can figure out HOW TO RETURN OUR LOVED ONES TO US.

About the attys .... I did forget to mention that at the top of the first page of this site, there is a tab for Legal Info which you can click on and it'll pull up valuable info for you. I believe the attys who support the Meso Research Foundation names prob change position daily, meaning that today one atty firm will pop up first, and then bring in the others so tomorrow a diff atty firm will be 'first' and then day after another atty ofc first ... like jockeying for position - so not to show favoritism, I suppose!
(that section of this site is a little diff than used to be last time I looked) Marty did sign up with Roger Worthington's firm in CA even tho we live in Arizona and quite a bit of his exposure was in NY state as well as Arizona.... So, you are not limited to hiring an atty in 'your state of residence'....
Hi Diane .... hey, young lady, I think YOU are doing really good and being so supportive of the people on this site, being willing to share your experience with your dad.
It is not that wyou can't ask questions or get some input abt the legal end, that can be done by phone or private email. The people who are lurking here on this site do so bcz it is a JOB, a source of income to support their families.... BUT, I AGREE, IF THE COMPANIES DON'T WANT TO PAY, i wish they could fig out a way how to RESTORE HEALTH to our loved ones .... that would be abt the same as returning them to us for me! Diane, keep up the encouraging work you do for others... it's good for you also! Hugzzzz. Lois
