    My Beloved David

    Hi All,

Have not been here for sixs months after losing the love of my life at 49 years old. Still can't seem to go through a day without tears, this disease is so cruel. So much guilt and so many regrets. I hope all of you that have lost someone recently are coping better than I. I just wanted to thank Mary and all who helped David and I during his fight. It was also such a pleasure to meet you all in NYC for the Today show! Thanks for the hugs, Rich, Bonnie, Kathy, can't remember everyones name right now... keep up the good fight!!! You are all in my prayers!!

    Re: My Beloved David

Holly, I feel your pain! It has been 18 months for me, and it seems like yesterday. I find that grief is something very individual for each of us, and each of us works through it in our own way. Don't let anyone tell you how you should feel, and try to have faith that David will always be with you.

Holly, are you receiving the notifications to join the spousal loss support group. Please let me know and if so join us. There are many on the call who understand what you are going through. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you and I know how much you loved David and how well you cared for him. Sending you many hugs Mary

    Holly
I know how hard David fought to get on top of his disease with you right there at every step. I was so impressed at the determination of you both to beat his meso. The grief you have along with regrets and every other emotion is so normal. Please reach out to others here who can relate how they coped. You also have so much to offer new caregivers, that is truly a gift, as not everyone can do that as well as you did.

I can't even imagine the pain you are going through . I don't think anything can prepare us for being without our partner. Guy and I have been married for 40 years this June. I literally get sick to my stomach to think this disease has so much control of our lives. I wish you peace .

    Re: My Beloved David

My name is Rose, and my husband Dennis was diagnosed peritoneal meso 7/19/11. He had good response to chemo, anad is pretty stable right now. But we know it will progress, and we don't know what to expect. Being in Alaska keeps us isolated from others, and my job keeps me working past the time for caregivers group due to the 4 hr time difference. Den is stable enough that Im still able to work. I've been in contact w/Mary and she has been a great support, but I would like to be able to talk to someone who has been thru it. This is my first time ever on a 'blog' so I don't know if this is appropriate to ask to talk w/you this way. thanks.

    Re: My Beloved David

Rose, it is very appropriate to ask for support! It's what we are here for. I would urge you to repost this as NEW post tho as I think more might see it & respond.
Several of us have told Mary to give out our contact info when neede or appropriate as we're willing to  E-mail or call & offer what we can. Give Mary a call again & ask her to put you in touch with someone, please.
I am the Mom & past caregiver of a daughter who is now a 6 year survivor of peritoneal meso. It's a rough road you're traveling right now but there is hope & with this group you;re no longer doing it alone. I'd recommend you check out the post "tool box" left by ole warhorse, otherwise known as Bonnie & "Hugs". The link she has shared is great.
Please keep posting. You're in my prayers.

    Holly,
I am very sorry to hear of your horrible loss of David. This disease has robbed so many of us of many years with those we love., and make life so difficult for those who battle it.
    My thoughts are with you.

    Re: My Beloved David

    Hi Rose,
Welcome to the site, it was to me and still is so helpful to those battling this disease. It helped me to be a better caregiver to my father, and helped me stay strong mentally so I could be strong for him. Its been 5 weeks since I lost him and I still get strength from being here with people who understand.

    Re: My Beloved David

    Rose
Welcome to our meso family. My husband John has been caregiving for me over 10 years. Mary has our number if you or Dennis would like to speak to either of us. None of this is easy and believe it or not some of us are also isolated living in the lower 48 because of the rareness of this disease. It could be like living in Alaska. (beautiful state). Remember to be positive, it goes a long way in dealing with meso.
